Copper futures surge 1.02% amid robust demand

Copper futures were trading higher in the domestic market on Monday as speculators raised bets amid firm global trend and pick up in demand.
Analysts said firm trend in base metals in global market and increased demand from consuming industries in domestic spot markets led to rise in copper prices in futures trade.
At the MCX, copper futures for November 2017 contract was trading at Rs 450.35 per kg, up by 1.02 per cent, after opening at Rs 447.35, against a previous close of Rs 445.80. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 451.80 (at 17:18 hours).
